Just like shopping for everyday items, many people apply the same principle of comparison when selecting a doctor. Some of my doctor friends find this behavior disrespectful, but I hold a different view.
From my own experiences, if you're buying a basic camera, you'd visit three or four stores for comparison. For something as significant as surgery, consulting ten doctors isn't excessive!
Emma stands out as an exemplary case. I recall her first visit, where she brought her own notebook and pen, jotting down my advice meticulously without concealing her plan to consult others—I admired her honesty. Even more impressively, she inquired about the orthodontists I collaborated with. She had reviewed all of them thoroughly, I learned from my colleague. About six months later, she returned, ready to proceed. I reassured my assistant that her extensive consultations indicated deep thought and preparation. Of course, we communicated further before the operation to align on her preferences. Orthognathic surgery not only improves bite function but also softens facial features.
